We all know that student assessment is important. Data should drive instruction, but too much assessment can drive a teacher bonkers. If teachers are spending all of their time assessing, when are they doing the teaching?
About 5 years ago I came across ESGI and my teacher heart was overjoyed. I love technology and the fact that I could assess my students on any device, anyplace, I was sold!!!! I signed up for the FREE 60 day trial and began using it right away. Then I showed it to our assistant Superintendent. Next thing I know my colleague and I are put in charge of ESGI and creating all of the kindergarten assessments for the district. It's like having magic keys to the kingdom.
No more carrying around large binders of assessments and having to shuffle through stacks of papers. I can assess a kid on the playground if I so want to. I just pick up an iPad and go.
Right now ESGI is having a Go Bonkers promotion. The great news is there are some extra perks if you sign up now for the trial and then decide to purchase.
I have GREAT NEWS!!!! Teachers that sign-up for a new ESGI trial account and/or purchase:Use this PROMO CODE

Why ESGI? Because it -
- Saves you over 400 hours a year!
- Guides instruction by providing you with real-time student data.
- Automatically generates parent letters & customizable flash cards.
- Grants you free access to thousands of customizable assessments or you can instantly create your own!
For students who need extra practice I can have ESGI print out flash cards for each student with the exact skill they need to know, with their name on it. For example, if they didn't know specific numbers or shapes, it will print those flash cards for them.
Parent information. this is what I LOVE!!!!!!! it can be printed in English or Spanish. I use if for parent teacher conferences and I attach it to my report cards too. I also send it home throughout the school year like a progress report with certain students as a reminder to parents. These are students that I am checking on more often in between report card assessments. This is to remind parents that their child needs more help at home. Can you see how beautifully it shows exactly what the students knows and does not know. So simple. This is much easier for a parent to understand than a standards based report card. I actually write in my report card comment to please see the attached data sheet.
