Sight Words and Word Walls

Do Kindergartners really use word walls? Yes, eventually, but not in the very beginning.  For my kids they are just squiggle lines on decorate paper attached to a bulletin board.  I have two word walls in my room, the traditional wall that hangs above my writing center and my Jumbo Interactive Word Wall.
I made my word wall cards HUGE because I wanted my kids to really see them.  I wanted them to be able to point and spell the words, trace them with their fingers and have easy access to them.  Each week we add a new word and place the word frame around it to show which word is our focus word.
