I searched all over blog land and even had a link party to get ideas. At some point I came across this great resource from Mrs. Lemon's. I took the letter she shared and changed some of it to fit my needs. Then had it translated. Most of the contracts are back and the bags are done. now all I need to do is finish label the books, the bags and check them out to students for next week.
Here is my letter/contract to parents in Spanish and English. The Spanish version is first. I can't take credit for it, as I used most of what Mrs. Lemon's shared on her blog.

Hi, I would love to do this book bag idea with my kindergartners, but I am unable to open up the Spanish/English letetr. Thanks!
Thanks- let me see what is up with google docs
Ms. Trish- you need to have a google account in order to open the document.
Love your blog! So, do they close at the top?

Oh I wanted to see your letter too; but it wouldn't let me open it and I do have an account and am signed in. Any chance you could email me the versions at

Bummer! I can't open it either (and I have a google account, too!) Is there another way of posting it for us? ctillack@verizon.net
This sounds like a great idea! I am also unable to open it with my google account. Did you make the document public? It says I don't have permission to view it. Which means it might still be set to private.

So sorry I guess i didn't change the setting from private to share. It should work now. I've tested it a few time without problems.
Thank you so so much! I just came back from Target where they had bags for sale for a dollar. Can't wait to do this. I want to say a BIG THANKS for the Spanish translation.
They look great!!! I love your bags!
